I have a Madeleine Claire - we call her by her full name, at school she is Maddy.

However, I will say that I've been correcting the spelling of her name since birth - with so many variations, it can be frustrating.

I've seen Madlyn, Madlyne, Madeline, Maddison (assumed because of the Maddy nickname), Madelyn, Madalyne etc

I much prefer Megan, and agree with Gudrun that Megan has more personality. While I like the full name Madeleine, and only this spelling and pronunciation, I'm not keen on Maddy,

If you like both, why not combine.

Megaline?

As a full name I prefer Madeleine, but I love Meg and much prefer it to Maddy.  So I’m not much help at all!   I’d probably go with Megan as Madeleine seems much more popular and I know so many girls nicknamed Maddy.

I love the name Madeline but DH doesn't, plus one of his close friends used the name 6 months before our DD was born.

I don't love Megan but I certainly don't know any, so it's not common!

My daughter is a Madeline and I always swore to call her that and not Madi because I didn't want people to think she was a Maddison. Well that didn't work and my Madi hates her full name :-(
